Our mission is to meet the unmet needs of AAC users. Thanks to your feedback, we’ve added many exciting new features to our latest upgrade MyTalk Mobile 2.6! But that’s what we hope you’ve come to expect from the MyTalk Tool set.

So, let’s take a look and see what these enhancements will mean for you.

Text to Speech: Text to Speech has been built into MyTalk to accommodate higher functioning users. This function gives this new group of users the ability to customize on the spot without a supporter to record digital voice for them.

Video: MyTalk now has the same video capability as iPhone 3GS or later iphone models and the all-new iPod touch. You can now build audio/video clips into your cells from within author mode on MyTalk Mobile. Parents, professionals and clinicians let your imagination get the best of you…then go to our ‘How are you using MyTalk’ site and tell the world how you plan to use your in cell audio/video clips. Tell us your goal or desired outcome and why you think short video clips are the answer.

Zoom on / Zoom Off: After downloading the upgrade, go to Settings on your iProduct. Find MyTalk and select ‘Zoom On’ or ‘Zoom Off’ to meet your particular situation. Some users with fine motor challenges can’t close the zoomed image. In those instances choose ‘Zoom Off’.

Copy / Paste Cells: We’ve improved the copy / paste functionality within the handheld application in order to save time when building boards. If you copy a cell with child boards, you are copying the cell as well as the boards below it. My personal ‘Drinks’ board (with several layers below it) is used in many places on Michael’s MyTalk Load. You will find this an incredible time saver.

No Author Mode: Several have asked if we could limit access to Author mode in order to prevent boards from being accidentally deleted. In our latest version, you simply go to your iPhone/iPad/iPod Settings, find MyTalk and in the ‘Allow Authoring’ section, select ‘off’. When turned off, your user won’t even see the ‘authoring’ option.

Remember Me: Clinicians, professionals and parents asked us that we enable them to quickly get to author mode and avoid the login process. We added ‘remember me’ to address this need. OK, it may not revolutionary, but it will save you time!

Rotational Support: In the iProduct’s ‘Settings’ area you will select Rotate, Portrait, or Landscape. Your situation and user will dictate which setting you choose, but now you have a choice.

Optimized for iPad: All iPhone products work on iPad, but not all of them are optimized to take advantage of the iPad’s functionality and capability. MyTalk versions 2.3 and 2.4 are optimized for iPad (you can upgrade at no cost anytime). iPad users will know the difference the minute they open the new version of MyTalk.

Account Switching: We now enable clinicians and professionals to see exactly what their client sees by allowing them to access their client’s boards on their computer. Your conversations will be much more productive when both are viewing the same content.

MyTalk Workspace: What changes have we made to MyTalk Workspace, our web-based board building tool? The list is long, so we will just mention a few, including our new improved web search functionality. We’ve made it simple, intuitive and fast. We also offer a bulk file upload process that allows you to duplicate all of the content and directory structure with via one-touch upload.

Through these and other enhancements, MyTalk Tools is setting a new standard in Mobile AAC. And unlike other solutions, MyTalk supports users at all levels and in all languages.

Find out for yourself!
Instead of just reading about MyTalk’s latest version, download your own version at no cost. If you are a MyTalk user, the upgrade is free – just update the app on your mobile device. If you are not yet a user, download our free MyTalk Mobile Lite app today. I promise you’ll be amazed!

New Information and Support for Augmentative Communication App

Houston, TX June 1, 2010 – MyTalk LLC, a provider of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) applications, has announced the launch of its new website at http://www.mytalktools.com. The enhanced site offers not only a new look, but easier access to information and resources, including the innovative MyTalk Workspace and links to download MyTalk Mobile software apps for the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. The announcement of the new site coincides with the release of the latest version of the MyTalk Mobile software on the App Store.

One of the new features of the site is the MyTalk Workspace, where users and their parent, caretaker or clinician create and edit boards in a manner that is both creative and efficient. The MyTalk Workspace also enables online access and rapid development of customizable communication boards for a variety of uses. The site is also a forum for sharing ideas and tips with others through the MyTalk Community, as well as resource information and news.

"This new site takes MyTalk Tools to the next level in terms of functionality and ease of use for our customers,” said Bick Pratt, founder of MyTalk LLC. “Throughout the design process we sought input from parents, speech language professionals and users on the look, feel and functionality of our new site. While it will always be a work in progress, we believe it’s a good first step in making augmentative communication easy, affordable and cool.”

The MyTalkTools applications enable pre-recorded, personalized messages paired with icons or pictures to provide those with language challenges an easy, cool and affordable alternative to traditional AAC devices. MyTalk was originally developed for Bick’s son, Michael, who has severe speech impairment due to Nager’s Syndrome. Once the application was successfully proven, Bick dedicated MyTalk LLC to bringing accessible and affordable augmentative communication to all.

The MyTalk Mobile software can be purchased from the iTunes App Store or downloaded from the MyTalk website at www.mytalktools.com. The new version is a free update for all current MyTalkTools users. MyTalk is also making available MyTalk Mobile-Lite, a full-featured free version limited to 12 cells for parents and caregivers to test before purchasing MyTalk Mobile-2.0 with 32,000 cell capacity.

About MyTalk Tools: Created by the parent of a child with special needs, MyTalk Tools provides an easy, cool and affordable substitute for augmentative, alternative communication (AAC) devices. MyTalk Workspace and MyTalk Mobile Apps for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad are easy to use, easy to manage, highly customizable and affordable. Designed by and for those with communication challenges, MyTalkTools enables users to express and connect in a whole new way. For more information visit www.MyTalkTools.com.
